A fun and inexpensive alternative to craft store art sand.

Materials:

1 cup of sand or table salt
2 tsp. Powdered tempura paint
plastic zip loc type baggies

Directions:

  1. Pour sand or table salt and tempura paint into bag. Shake the bag until the mixture is blended. (about 30 seconds)
  2. Repeat step one to create several colors of sand
  3. sand can be stored in plastic bag or airtight containers

Project Ideas:


Collect small containers such as baby food jobs. Layer different colors of sand in the jars for a pretty art project even some two year old can do. (use small plastic spoons to pour sand into containers)
